Healing updates - 3 months post-op!

I know it's been awhile since I've posted, so I apologize to those of you who have been vigilantly checking in. I started a new job on April 1st and have been traveling a lot, so I've been very busy! Anyway, this post is long overdue - so thanks for your patience.

Since it's been 2 months since my last post, I'll try to recount my healing during this time. Overall, everything is feeling normal and healed completely. There have been no further complications or challenges. I've enjoyed touching and playing with my dick as much as possible! I'm a bit of a typical dude lately, in that I stick my hands down my pants when watching TV, just enjoying the feeling of my cock in my hands. Sensation is wonderful, especially sensitive on the tip. I've been delighted by the fact that I have a glans and foreskin, which means that I pull it back to wash any smelly head cheese every time I shower (it doesn't really get smelly on a day-to-day basis, by the way - it was pretty foul the first time I washed about a week after surgery though).

In past posts, I wrote about how sitting was uncomfortable. It started feeling easier to sit for longer periods of time at about the 6 week mark. I still don't enjoy wearing tight jeans because it squishes my junk and doesn't feel great, but it's definitely not painful anymore.

Below are some photos I took after trimming my pubes a bit, which makes it easier to get a good view. Enjoy!

Manscaped for the best view possible! Lying down, 3 months post-op.

Stitches ended up healing just fine, despite my worries! 3 months post-op

  1. Looks really good! I am considering simple meta with implants, since I don't plan to have children. I think I am around the same size as you, so this gives me a good idea of possible results. Thanks!

  2. Thank you! It's a great surgery if you want to see some growth but don't want a long recovery time, multiple surgeries, or a urethroplasty. Let me know if you have any questions I can answer.

  3. i don't know if blogspot ate my comment, but here goes again. with added stuff actually, so feel free to delete the previous one.

first off thanks so much for having this space as a resource - also, i see it's past august, so likely you and your partner have gotten married - congratulations!

i was wondering if you experienced any genital numbness post surgery, how long that took to clear up, whether it was a painkiller-type numbness or something else. basically, could you describe how your junk felt right after surgery?

also, i was wondering if you experienced any bottom growth in between the 2 and 3.5 year mark on t, or how your bottom growth generally occurred. i'm 2.5 years in, and while i think i've gotten to an okay size where i'd be happy with the results of a meta, i'm curious if there's any extra growth for me in store. did you pump at all, or use dht?

did you have any trouble with therapy or therapist letters? was your "real life experience" sufficiently long enough (5 years, i think it was) that bowers only wanted one letter? is there a length of time in therapy required? i'm a college student, and it's hard to stay in a lengthy therapeutic relationship when i have to go home for breaks (meaning my case is technically "closed" at the clinic i go to, so i need to reenter the months-long intake process when i return, and might not even get the same therapist.) was there a conflict between insurance's requirements for letters and bowers' requirements?

also, does bowers have a consultation fee, and do you know if she does phone or video consultations? i live on the east coast, whoops

thanks so much for having this space as a resource for all of us!

    1. Hi there, thanks for your comment! My partner and I did indeed get married at the beginning of August, thanks for the well wishes :)

As far as genital numbness... It is hard to describe what things felt like right after surgery, except holywowfuck it hurt a lot! I wouldn't describe it as numbness per se, as much as pressure (from the swelling) and pain. After a few days, the pain was more achey and throbbing. I definitely experienced some numbness, but was only aware of it after several weeks of healing once the acute pain subsided. Most of the numbness was localized to the area that was sutured - the long line of sutures that go from the underside of my penis to the top of my vagina, basically. My dick, however, has great sensation! Gets hard all the time, even when I don't want it to.

I experienced some growth between the 2 and 3.5 year mark on T. I've never been the type to measure regularly or anything, but I remember thinking during sex that things just kept on growin! I've only pumped halfheartedly - as far as I understand, you really need to do it consistently (1-2 times a day) for a long period of time to see the benefit, and I have never done that. I have never used DHT. You might benefit from waiting a little bit longer to have meta, but if you've already had good growth on 2.5 years of T so far, I'd say go for it right now! You can always pump after surgery (let it heal for at least 3 months first though, as the tissue is pretty sensitive post-op) if you want more growth.

Getting a therapist letter was a pain in the neck (read: expensive), but relatively easy in terms of access. I had a letter from my psychologist and a psychiatrist who I saw once for a "gender evaluation." I could go on a rant here about gatekeepers and the fact that I know my body best, but I assume we're on the same page with that frustration. My insurance and Dr. Bowers had the same requirements for a letter.

Dr. Bowers will do a consultation in person for about $100, I think. She does not offer "official" phone consults, but I was able to spend about 10 minutes on the phone with her to ask a few detailed questions, which really eased my anxiety. Just ask Robin (office manager in Trinidad) to have Dr. Bowers give you a call - they are usually very accommodating.

Hope this has helped! Let me know if you have any other questions.

  4. Your dick looks so good! Seeing this (from Australia) has made me feel like doing this surgery, for me, could actually be a possible thing. Thanks so much.

  5. Thank you for documenting your experiences of having a simple metoidioplasty. I didn't know such results were possible and had I not researched and found your blog, I would have been agonizing over the fact I would not be able to achieve the genitalia I desire to alleviate my body dysphoria. Your experiences have given me hope. I plan to begin saving up to see Marci Bowers after top surgery is completed. I can't even begin to describe the gratitude I feel towards you and how thankful I am that you decided to openly document your experiences since information was so limited beforehand. I, like Byron, live in Australia.

    Thank you!

  6. Hey I'm trying to figure out the difference between simple and the ring or the full metiodioplasty. The Last pic. Was great. Does it get big. Do you pump to get big. Can you have testicular implants.

  7. Hi, thank you so much for this post! I'm from Australia and had previously decided that bottom surgery wasn't for me, but that was when I only knew about phaloplasty and before I'd heard of and seen results of metoidioplasty.

I do have a question though... Would it be possible to get a metoidioplasty with a urethroplasty, but to not close up the vagina? I know it's probably a weird question, but I'm a gay bottom and don't like anal, but still want a penis (preferably that I can urinate through).

    Thanks in advance, from Daniel

  9. Can you stand up for urine? I’m wondering... Does not you think it worth to go through as such as removal vaginal inside and closed it to have penis metoidioplasty that’s it? Because causes health issue in the future like limit life no enjoy than normal?

  11. Hello. Thank you for the photos. Do you still enjoy receiving penetration in your vagina? Did the stitches change any of your pleasure in that area?
